This article is a outdated, isn't it?
It's fixed 2 out of the 3 "not to likes", excluding the heat problem.
The Pre's improved quite a bit. :)

Stumbled upon this blog thingy in effort to find user info about Palm Pre which is being shipped to me. I am so excited!!! I have wanted an iphone for a long time but am under contract with Sprint.. i have went from a Sidekick, to a Rumor, to HTC Diamond... I could not stand HTC Diamond!

I have an iPod touch and the touch part of the mix doesnt work very well. I am wonder as a phone.. Touching when you get a call or making a call in one hand does the Palm Pre work better than the iPhone?

When will Palm add voicedialing (and yes, I mean Bluetooth device initiated voicedialing!!) for the pre??????

I will likely return my pre within 30 days if they do not add voicedialing PRONTO!!!!!

How could they omit a feature much cheaper and older phones have included??

Got mine at 10:45AM (Shipped from Sprint). Tested it out a little bit with the gestures. Left for Lunch at 11-12. Played around with the UI and ran a few applications (Web, Youtube, Sprint TV) for about 10 minutes. Noticed the back of the phone where the keypad is being quite warm (very apparant). Furthermore, the battery life was at 100% when I first turned it on was then 20% after less an hour light usage. It takes me a good 30 minutes trying to pry the USB port cover open to get the USB cable connected for charge. Charged now....I'll have to play around with it some more at home to see what other things I like and don't like about the Pre.

Goods so far: crisp photos, multi-tasking
Bads so far: USB cover, warm back cover, battery life, slight lag between launching applications (try out the Youtube videos) you'll know what I mean

I picked up a Pre on launch day and I've gotta say that this one sweet device. Considering that it is 1.0 device, kudos have to be given to Palm for putting out quite a polished product. I'm not saying it's perfect by any measure, but the faults pale in comparison to what Palm got right.

Heat is not anything related to Touchstone and isn't in all units. I've used mine for hours and never experienced heat issues enough to discolor the screen. I have charged via the Touchstone majority of the time, and via usb maybe 3 hours.
I will leave the Pandora client running both with WiFi and EVDO and see if either heat it up. I was surprised when I woke up to heat issues honestly.
The edge is very sharp, I did not notice this until reading reviews. Cutting cheese with it while pretty hilarious, is quite possible. I will have to file it down by hand, quite annoying.

David, CDMA devices tend to run hotter than GSM handsets in my experience. I couldn't tell you why, although I'm sure there's a reason. My Pre was hot with the regular, non-Touchstone back cover, so I don't think Touchstone has anything to do with it. I'm finding that the Pre is running cooler on WiFi.
