Boxee vs Hulu: Battle of The Words
Chris Albrecht over on NewTeeVee has a video interview with Boxee CEO Avner Ronen thought of Hulu’s recent launch of its desktop app. He also talks about the new TV-friendly browser YouTube launched this week. Also check out my post about why Hulu doesn’t quite much care about Boxee.

Boxee’s super cool, but also super super niche. Hulu has bigger fish to fry.
I love it — i have it hooked up to my big screen via Apple TV. Awesome viewing experience. Damn Hulu for coming in the way ;-) I wish they would let me just use it.
Boxee never seems to operate correctly on the Mac I have hooked up to my TV. Response is always slow as if the 2GB of memory and broadband connection aren’t sufficient. Poor experience.
I am surprised. It works just fine on my Mac Mini. I have not experienced any problems.
I really want Boxee to succeed. Unfortunately, he who controls the gold (content) is king.
I’ve been impressed with Hulu’s execution. The fact that Hulu continues to pull the Heisman move on Boxee should be frightening. Unless Boxee can figure out a way to deliver killer content it may simply start to stall. I mean even Yahoo is starting to embed TV widgets into 2009 TV’s and they can pull off content deals where Boxee can’t. What’s going to happen when Apple announces their rich media play in Q3 (oops I wasn’t supposed to say that).
Boxee may want to focus on getting the content direct from each content provider’s web site vs. through Hulu. I find that for shows like The Daily Show, there are more options/choices to view the content without Hulu !
