Stu received an email confirmation direct from Amazon stating that his DX should arrive a few days after the ship date.

I’m still using the heck out of my Kindle 2, having spent $116.21 on content in the first two months of ownership. (Thank you Mint for telling me that!) But I have no intention of moving to the super-sized Kindle DX at this point. It would be nice to have a 9.7-inch, 1200 x 824 display over the 6-inch, 800 x 600 one I use, but I just dropped $359 for the Kindle 2. There’s no sense in me trying to sell it and shelling out $489 for the new DX. For folks that want a bigger screen and more storage capacity, it’s likely more appealing. And now those same folks don’t have to wait for a vague release date of “summer;” the DX starts shipping next week. The DX still shows as a “pre-order” on Amazon since none have been delivered yet. If you order one now, you’ll be placed in a queue on a first-come, first-served basis.

  1. Wait, so you’d rather have the extra large pizza, and not the elegant one that fits in almost any bag? The screen looks impressive, but I was thinking that I’d rather have the one that just slips into anything and isn’t much bigger than my hands, while still being bigger than an iPod.

    What’s the attraction, Kevin?

    1. While the larger screen is appealing from a reading experience perspective, I think the Kindle 2 is a better fit for me. I don’t think I would take the DX to as many places due to the size.
