		<description><![CDATA[IPTV is still a linear video product. Yes, more efficient and more flexible, but still the packaging of 100s of channels in a box and selling the box to consumers. It is surprising that cablecos would be moving in that direction at precisely the same point in history when viewers are moving away from linear video and toward the infinite expanse of internet (or over-the-top (OTT)) video.

Linear video (including IPTV)  is to the internet video what AOL was to the world wide web.What better lesson could anyone ask for?]]></description>

		<description><![CDATA[What about switched digital? Cable companies were talking big a couple of years ago about how this was going to free up lots of bandwidth for them. The real issue with IPTV is that to make good use of ti you really need the cooperation of the content providers and that seems to always lag the technological capability by quite a bit.]]></description>
