HOWEVER, I just tested it out and it works on a G5, so what HULU is really saying is that “we’re lazy SOBs with very little commitment or understanding of the Mac and we went out and bought just a few measly Macs and that was the extent of our testing.” Remember NBC is one of the joint venture partners which is a partner in MSNBC and I’d venture to guess they are pretty MSFT-centric. Can’t blame them for working hard on the Windows side because it’s a big market, but the Mac market is pretty healthy and should not be ignored, even folks with older CPUs. They don’t support XP except on Intel Core 2 Duos, so I guess they’re at least being equivalent, but why not state limited support for Macs with G4/G5 processors?
AT LEAST they don’t do a processor check to exclude machines that MIGHT work and I for one pray they don’t start. I hope they will stop disabling alternative players like “MYMediaPlayer” and “Boxee” as well. They get their ads out there with Roll-Ins and Roll-Outs, so I don’t know why it makes any difference if someone picks up an RSS feed and plays their video.

“Mac
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0GHz

Not any Intel Mac. The first Intel MacMini’s base offering was a CoreSolo.

I have to say, it’s pretty slick, and I had no problems with it. Haven’t played around with it a lot yet, but from what I’ve seen I enjoy this very much. It’s still a shame that they blocked Boxee, leaving them to create a workaround, but I can see why now at least.

Tried to use it but the program crashed every time before the “loading” bar would complete. I got an “…encoutered an error” message after the app crashed. I do have ClickToFlash installed, but disabled it through the ClickToFlash menu. I didn’t restart my MacBook after disabling ClickToFlash, though. That might be an issue.

It ran fine for me to watch a couple of episodes of a show. My only issue is that I can’t get at the Preferences. That command is greyed out for some reason. And I’ve already received one update to the software; bumped from version 0.9 to 0.9.1. That didn’t correct the problem, though.

I have it a try this afternoon. I had the app running for a total of about 10 minutes, in which time it froze-up three times while scrolling through the list of available episodes for a TV show.

While I’m sure it was just a temporary glitch, I’m not a fan of Flash on the Mac – it just doesn’t work very well at all.
