I agree with juan that it is a very good strategy if booth parties are happy and it is easy to match cultures when adquiring in early stage.

Voxeo is profitable, without IPO, they are growing, being highlighted by several analysys firms, and looking near technologies to their core to offer more to their customers, what was the problem ???

Thinking about this some more , the whole voice arena really heated up in the last 3 quarters or so. Some really innovative companies and products have come about in the last few months from various startups while Voxeo was mostly a VoiceXML house till recent past.

So, the whole game is really about recent past and Voxeo has been acquiring companies in the same timeframe. Call it need for growth or desperation :)
