logoJust a quick note in nearly real time, as I’m about to join a web conference with Intel: Moblin v2.0 Beta is out and available for download. This is the version for netbooks, not MIDs, and you can run it from a LiveCD or USB drive, meaning that you don’t have to install it on your netbook’s hard drive. Intel says you can view a video demo of the beta on the Moblin Zone site. I’m off to the call, which is going to cover not only Moblin, but details for the next-generation platform for Atom CPUs, code-named Pine Trail. I’ve got a busy schedule today, but I’ll have thoughts penned from the web conf as soon as I can.

Update: Here’s a screenshot of the new user interface for netbooks and nettops, called the M-zone. This view highlights the social-networking features. PIM info is on the left, and there are shortcuts to your data as well.
