He assured me it would be a SIM based system. When I asked if I would be able to walk into a Verizon store and buy only a SIM card with a plan and drop it into any GSM phone I wanted, he said such plan details had not been worked out yet, but it was a certainly feasible scenario. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

The inability to bring my own device onto their network is the reason I don’t have Verizon (despite their 3g network being better than AT&Ts)
