crabble1These days we’re all about consuming content on our sexy little handheld devices, be they phones or UMPCs. We watch video during flights or in my case, use a UMPC like a little desktop computer. One accessory that’s a must for such activity is a little stand that will prop the gadget up at a comfortable viewing angle. That’s where the Crabble comes into the picture, a portable stand for less than $5.

The Crabble folds flat as it’s designed to be carried around in the wallet. This insures you always have it with you when you need it. It is made out of recyclable materials and allows for an adjustable viewing angle in either portrait or landscape orientation. It’s only $4.99, so you don’t risk much coin by trying one out.

  1. I ordered a couple of these last week, mainly to use on long flights when I watch movies on my iphone. The appeal of folding flat and small size where the features that got my attention. Should have it in hand next week.

  2. The first generation iPod Touch included a little stand. I don’t think mine ever left the box, and I’d guess most didn’t, as the second gen Touch doesn’t include the stand.

  3. I quite like it, although it looks like it would be quite easy to make your own by cutting out some cardboard.

  4. I’ve made these before with paperclips. The problem is often the weight being too light.

    How heavy is the crabble?

BTW, here’s how to make it with a paperclip:

  5. I use a wire-mesh business card holder (<$4) at office supply stores. It does not fold flat, but it is small enough to take anywhere.

    1. I’ve got that business card/phone/iPod holder too! Nothing like a little multipurposing!

  6. You could always buy DLO’s VideoShell case for your iPod Touch / iPhone. It has a built-in kick stand that folds totally flat in to the back of the case when not in use. Then you do not have to carry around antoher piece of equipment.

The DLO VideoShell case is simply brilliant.
Useable in both portrait and landscape.
It’s sleek to folding easily back into the shell. It combines protection with great functionality.
      An essential for me 10/10
