1) Turn off 3G. Better reception and faster access speed come at a price, namely that your phone is polling cell towers more agressively. That impacts battery life.

2) Turn off Push mail. Set to Fetch Every Hour or even Manual Fetch.

3) Turn off Bluetooth. Unlike 3.0, in which Bluetooth will put itself to sleep after an app is done with it, you’ll have to turn off Bluetooth to conserve battery life.

4) My opinion about SSH is that it is a daemon that, until it is asked to do something, does not draw much power or use up much memory. t

Even heavy users mostly get through the day easily without having to recharge. If you are needing to recharge so often, you are either using the iPhone wrong, or you have a buggered up iPhone.
