While we are at the topic of chefs, mac&cheese, I would contend what Amazon provides is actually a "Kitchen" which is equipped with essential ingredients like salt, sugar, water, oven........ Chefs are allowed to bring any additional needs they may have for making their special product !! Chefs can expand or shrink their kitchen at will, decide to change their menus as they deem fit.

In my mind, this is much better model rather than provide a kitchen equipped with everything required to make only Mac&Cheese which feels like a one trick pony. If people decide they no longer like to eat Mac&Cheese, you are toast!

My 2 cents.

"Someone should tell Amazon, as EC2 is one of the IaaS providers given as an example of services whose costs will still increase with demand, meaning they can’t deliver the service profitably."

By that metric : Someone should tell google that the cost of searches will increase with demand meaning they can’t deliver the service profitably.
