reciteHave you ever wanted an easy way to get information into your smartphone so you don’t forget it?  You’d love for your phone to remind you of this stuff when you need to be thinking of it.  Microsoft has a new technology preview of an interesting program called Recite that looks pretty decent and is now available to try out.

Microsoft Recite lets you enter a voice note to yourself which could be anything like a task you need to do, a phone number, you name it.  The beauty of Recite is how it lets you search these nuggets of information by voice.  Recite works on Windows Mobile smartphones and can be grabbed via SMS, mobile browser or PC.  I’m going to give it a try and you may want to try it, too.

It works on WM6 or higher.

  1. Is it sort of like Jott or reQall?

The big technology here seems to be the ability to search voice notes using voice queries. I haven’t had time to try it out myself yet but that’s the gist of it I’m getting.

  3. I use Dial2Do on my iPhone to accomplish this. It is free and integrates with Evernote, ToodleDo, and Remember the Milk. Best of all it is free.

I can send emails, read email, read tasks or calendars all using my voice.

  4. Great on Advantage

  5. Wow, I don’t use Voice Memos ever, but I downloaded this to give it a try and I’m impressed.

  6. Though as an addendum to my previous comment, too bad it uses 5.25MB of RAM and pretty much forces everything in the background to end up closed on my device.

  7. I am very impressed how well this works on my S740. I can see this getting used a lot.

Now all I need is a way to sync with my desktop (or the cloud)
