Hey AB, thanks for putting it out there, but tell me, why isn't it statistically, mathematically and technically possible to build probability models. Moore's Law, the growth in broadband, video explosion and digital convergence to devices have all been acurately predicted through research. What's ridiculous is calling science driven data ridiculous!
Battery improvements, yea..........lower power requirements to the battery through technology, faster....
Think more, guess less!!

To quote a great line from the movie Ninth Gate: "Mumbo, jumbo! Mumbo, jumbo!"

Cisco is wrong. These estimates are ridiculous.

Seeing 12 months into the tech future is impossible, but 4? Come on, folks.

Since so many tech evangelists want to spew nonsense, I'll make my own predictions:

By 2013, backbone traffic will stay flat due to hivecasting of popular streams over white space. This will lessen the burden of bandwidth providers, greatly reducing their backbone costs.

Mobile devices will have huge amounts of RAM-based storage. Instead of 128MB Androids, we'll have "phones" with 16GB or more. Battery technology wil take a huge leap by 2012 due to Russian and Chinese R&D uniting under a corporate umbrella. White space will open a new topological layer outside of the common Internet.

There. Let's see who's right. My guess? Everyone is wrong, and clueless, about what will be popular and needed in 4 years.
