We have Boxee running on an old Dell we picked up for $50 of Cragslist, added a nice graphics card, and connected to our Sony HDTV. We do Not have cable (too expensive), only our internet connection and collection of ripped DVDs (Proudly, we own every DVD on their). Boxee shows promise to unite all the websites we manually navigate with one interface browseable via remote control (need to add that) instead of the trackpad equipped keyboard on our couch. It has many nice features, but the beta still crashes too often (still beta after all).

Call me a Boxee fanboy if you want, but I've been waiting for a solution like this for a while now and I love what I see. Granted, there are several UI issues, but none have been deal breakers for me. In fact, my 4 year old daughter has figured out how to navigate to her collection of shows, so it can't be all that confusing.

I like that I no longer have to spend hours and hours converting files. I like that movie/tvshow artwork and descriptions are quietly added when files are indexed (more often than not). The built-in bittorrent is promising. And I love that I can flip back to my ATV UI at any time.

I can live with the lags for now. Mostly because I know they'll disappear as improvements are made. AND once I/we crack the IP blocking for non-US users things will really take off, for me.

Setup: ATV+Boxee+1TB NAS & MBP+Boxee

chris,

thanks for the love!

btw, you're giving me too much credit.
boxee is a true team effort and the result is a mash-up between team-boxee and user feedback.

it's a great experience working on boxee and it means a lot to us to have such great support from our users.
