As expected, Dennis Publishing’s The Week news digest mag is to launch its first proper website by piggybacking its recently acquired The First Post editorial site. The new site will drop the First Post name but will introduce a subscription-only model.

Currently, The Week‘s site only sells subscriptions to the printed mag. From the end of March, it will get the The First Post‘s original opinion, features and video – all of which is currently free but which will now sit behind a £79.99-a-year pay wall.

Talking about the formerly independent site, The Week publisher Simon Davies told Press Gazette:

  1. Its good to see big magzine companies moving their product online, to seek greater amount of audience
