Because there are a number of mainstream computer manufacturers who have discovered that their biggest seller has become their netbook and realized it better to sell many netbooks at a reduced profit – and gain expanded consumer recognition – than to sell few (or none) more costly ones, gain a few extra bucks and still only have a 9% worldwide market share.

eeeuser.com remains my touchstone for all things EeePC related to my 701, and its thru that site I’ve found that the subnotebook is capable of doing 95% of the things I do on my (now tethered to the desk) full-size HP notebook – and a fraction of the size.

I use http://www.netbookboards.com for news and stuff. They updated pretty regularly even though they dont seem like they have been around very long.

Netbooks are cool, but they may be a short-lived thing as companies realize they aren’t making very much selling them. Hopefully they get people through the tough economic times and still be able to compute to their heart’s content.
