Competing messaging aggregators are banding together to determine the best way to enforce the industry’s rules and guidelines. Companies such as mBlox, VeriSign (NSDQ: VRSN), SinglePoint and MX Telecom, have hired a consultant to study the issue, reports Wireless Week. Right now, the Mobile Marketing Associations determines the industry’s best practices, and then an auditing firm conducts reviews. Likewise, carriers have their own set of rules for aggregators to follow, but there’s not an excellent way to make sure companies comply. It appears a number of things need to be resolved, including who should the enforces be and how should the offenders be penalized.
