Horribly predictable after Viacom (NYSE: VIA) announced 850 worldwide job losses earlier this month, regional detail has filtered through to this side of the pond – up to 80 MTVN UK staff facing redundancy, Guardian.co.uk reports, on what, for many media workers, is the big Christmas party day. That’s about 10 percent of the staff, compared to what, on an overall basis, is seven percent of Viacom’s workers. The UK cuts come from MTV’s Oxford Street and Camden offices, with the outfit said to be outsourcing production of short-form shows. As we reported earlier, Viacom cuts are expected to go as high as EVP level.
