G1android_2The weekly podcast with Peter Rojas and Ryan Block is rapidly becoming my favorite show to catch.  The duo gives their take on various tech stuff with a clarity and unbiased view that is refreshing and I haven’t missed one yet.  The current show is devoted to the T-Mobile G1 and it’s informative to hear Peter and Ryan’s take on the first Android phone.  After you listen to the current MobileTechRoundup show I advise you to listen to the gdgt weekly #5 show.  Both shows give a lot of thought to the new G1 and how it might appeal to you.  Peter Rojas is one of the few people in the world who has actually used the G1 and his take on the new phone is particularly useful.  Most surprising comment from Peter in the show:

"This is the first phone with Android on it that we’ve seen and I think it’s better than any phone with Windows Mobile on it".

Yep, you’d better listen to the show.

  1. Peter probably doesn’t use Exchange and probably does use Gmail. Meaning the lack of Exchange support or desktop contact sync are not deal-breakers for him. That kills Android for many of us, at least at launch with limited third-party support.

  2. I’d prefer an OS that doesn’t require applications built entirely out of some odd stack java.
