Russ,

To answer your question. It seems that T-Mobile will be presenting the Android phone next week and selling it next month.

Whether you're a founding member of the Open Handset Alliance or not how does this add value to your shareholders? Again, I think you wrote a good post, but, vision of a company can only get you so far. Without a product or even worse business execution you could become a casualty. Looking at your customer churn numbers there seems to be a business problem that needs attention.

Scott - great to hear from you. That CEO accidentally bought his way into the Internet when he bought a local fiber company (a CAP). Roy W. later told me that his boss had no idea there was a gem in there...

Tony - thanks for sticking with Sprint. We're all hoping that day comes soon to our neighborhoods. Remember broadband spread slowly ten years ago too...

David - tell Kathy that Twittering is so much better on an Instinct. :)

Vlad - remember that, in 1995 that 28.8kbps connection cost $2.95 an hour... :) (BTW - I don't think your math is quite right, since 7 and 30 shouldn't both be in your equation, but even so, I think you're talking about a lot of data...)

Sorry to rain on your parade, but from my perspective of small business entrepreneur I don't even see Lenin going to Switzerland yet, let alone revolution. With tight caps on bandwidth consumption all my choices with broadband internet a really limited to casual browsing and checking e-mail.

5GB limit and e-mails size of 0.05KB? Have you ever seen a 20-line legal disclaimer at the end of EACH e-mail coming from corporate e-mail account? Throw in some Excel spreadsheets, Word documents, maybe couple of PDFs and think of what's left.

BTW, if I did the math correctly, the total throughput of always on 24x7x30 28.8 kbps dial up connection is 9GB. Please check it from your end :)

Hi Russ,

That was a very well written article - I completely agree with your assessment that we are in the throes of a mobile broadband revolution. Unfortunately, Western Europe and parts of Asia are way ahead in charting this mobile broadband revolution. The biggest challenge confronting mobile users here in the US is the high cost of mobile broadband. I attempt to show in this blog entry of mine how mobile broadband pricing in both Western and Eastern Europe is actually cheaper than fixed broadband options.

Hi Russ,

I've been with Sprint for > 10 years, and hope the WiMax comes soon to Silicon Valley and at an affordable price - I'd be very interested in multiple connections for one price -- for home (DSL replacement) and road (Nokia N810).

Hi Russ:

We were both at that same LD company at the same time -- I was an RSM in the east. Your soon-to-be CEO who thought internet was worthless in 1994 ending up spending $14 Billion (with a "B") less than 4 years later to get his company into the internet .....

I hope things are going well for you at Sprint Nextel. Are you by any chance going to be moving over to the New Clearwire?

Hey Alex,

Is anyone selling Android phones yet? ;)

I'm sure you know that Sprint is a founding member of the Open Handset Alliance and has indicated that it will sell Android phones in the future. I'm curious - do you see that as an indicator of vision or blindness?
