Synching files across devices is just insufficient functionality for me. There are apps out there that do VASTLY more. For example, HyperOffice allows you to:-

1) access and synch mail, tasks, calendars, tasks, notes etc between PC, Mac and mobiles (iphone, blackberry, windows mobile)

2) allows you to store your files/documents online AND access and collaborate (with versioning, notifications, locking, backups) on them from your iPhone (in addition to other mobile devices and any Mac or PC)

3) allows you to access and synch with your Outlook information from your iPhone. (even if you have no MS Exchange set up on your company servers)

in addition it has many other integrated tools like intranet/extranet publishing, forums, polls, chat, desktop integration, expense/billing, unified login etc.

check them out on appstore here

What's so good about this ? I've been using the Iphone version of SMEstorage.com for months now (www.thesmespace.com/smeutils/msmestorage) to access my files. I'm also participating in the SMEStorage OpenS3 beta in which you can use your own Amazon S3 keys and so access all of your S3 files from their channels - Iphone, iGoogle, Facebook, Mobile etc - maybe I'm more with it than I think ;-)

Stacey, can you get a call in to RIMM to get an app store together. There are tons of good apps out there for the blackberry. One problem is that so many users are corporate with IT depts limiting access to downloads, that probably limits the desire to develop apps for the bberry. (I would think the adoption by consumers of the Pearl and Curve would be pushing on that factor). But, an app store from bberry (different from its current website) could signal to IT departments what could be useful to employees in a way that lets them download it (for example, through a 'most downloaded' list or 'editor's choice list' that IT depts can use to create their own internal app stores).

But i'm totally with you as a bberry user who is annoyed by the iphone hype. http://fridayfivesatsix.blogspot.com/2008/07/trade-you-iphone-for-curve-ummm.html

Don't be a "bitter BlackBerry owner"; you can remotely access and view SugarSync files via your browser. ;) I looked at the new iPhone client and although it's visually nicer, I don't see any additional functionality than over the web access. SugarSync is advertising the iPhone client as "push synchronization", but it's actually pull-on-demand. Probably a good thing since I sync a few gigabytes up to the servers and only have about a gig of free space left on my 8 GB iPhone.

With regards to synchronisation with mobile phones I would suggest trying a company called Synkia (www.synkia.com). Synkia provides support for mainstream phones i.e. the mobile phones that most users have today and the vast majority of the 1.3 billion new mobile phones projected at being sold this year.

Synkia is an easy to use information management service for your mobile phone. With Synkia you can wirelessly back up contacts, calendar appointments, tasks, notes and SMS by a click of a button. You will always have a fresh copy of the information available on our server. If your phone is lost, stolen or breaks down you can easily restore the information on the new phone.

If you have several phones you can use the service to synchronize information between them – all phones will have the same contacts, appointments, etc.

In addition you can log in at www.synkia.com to view, add and modify your data. The next time you synchronize the changes will be transferred to your phone.

Here is a list of supported mobile phones:

https://www.synkia.com/WWW_SupportedPhones

Disclosure: I currently work for Synkia which is headquartered in Norway and has a development team based in Krakow, Poland
