Neat Receipts software does not compare with recipt wallets in terms of teh ability to create expense reports for periods of time , a week, a month, with subtotals by category etc. neat receipts just doesn’t have that functionality – you cant even have it generate a report of a weeks worth of receipts without subtotaling. This function is absolutely essential for expense reporting – Receipt Wallet is far better.

Hello, I have a question , can any one tell me if I can use my neat scanner Pc version on my mac if I purchase only the software for Mac and download it on my Mac or do I have to purchase an entire new Neat scanner for Mac>

Hey everyone

I run a non profit and we have clients we work with and forms that we fill out each time we work with them…..would there be a way that we could use this to read hand writing such as a name or a client number and assign that form to a specific folder? Also could it extract specific information out of the document so we can prioritize our clients needs better?

David: I’m with you. I own a mac and am trying to decide wether I should buy neat receipts or receipt wallet. I can’t find the link on neat co.’s website to just buy the software only.

Mark: I agree with you 100% ! So many people already have a scanner, why should we have to buy yet another one? And sure, the scanner is small, which is great, but you have to ‘feed’ it. I have one friend that bought the full neat receipts for mac and he complains about the feeder eating his receipts all the time and having them get stuck. This is a legitimate concern since so many receipts get folded and put into pockets, etc…’

Brad Hagen and all Neat Co. Employees: Where can I buy just the software only? I hear that it is $80. But I can’t even buy it if I wanted to since there isn’t anywhere that sells the software! I downloaded it but it asks for a serial number. I hardly think this is going to help people on the fence like me.

Scott: so let me get this straight…I can take a picture using my isight and rw will recognize it and catalogue it correctly? That is genius!

Ok, so in conclusion, I guess I’m gonna have to go with receipt wallet. Mainly because that is all that is available without having to spend $180. Neat, it would be nice if you told us mac users what’s going on, instead of leading us on to think that you can use the software as a stand alone with other applications. Unless I am wrong. Am I? Help Neat Co.!

You can download the MAC version of Neat Receipts here: http://www.neatco.com/products/neatreceipts-for-mac/

You will need your Windows software SN# to install but that can be found on your original Neato CD.

I’m curious… if I bought the PC scanner off eBay, would it be possible to download the Mac software and use it with the PC scanner? Or is the hardware different?

This is a Dr. Jekyl/Mr. Hyde device. Dr. Jekyl is that I loved the scanner when I was using my Dell with XP. As noted, it does not run on Vista 64. It became Mr. Hyde when the Dell died and I purchased a laptop with Vista 64.

There are currently petitions on line requesting addition of Vista 64 and if you contact Neat Receipts, they are taking a list of people to contact upon completion of Vista 64 compatible software. I’m not really holding my breath though as it was almost a year to today that they acknowledged that it wouldn’t work on their own site.

Jenn from Neat Receipts: I know a LOT of folks who gave you guys free advertising for your product. It is time to wake your bosses up and put a fire under the rear-side of the software team to fix this or risk killing an excellent product because of inability to service customers (then again, that never stopped Microsoft?)

Til then, I’m waiting impatiently as I need to use it right now, but can’t (I’m not kidding either – I have it with me on a business trip: I need to scan sketches and hoping that there will be a download announced while here).
