The race for the souls of our youth has begun:

http://blog.jamesurquhart.com/2008/07/googleibm-and-yahooptel-race-for-souls.html

Yahooptel (loooovvvvve it!) and Google/IBM (er, "GoogleBM"?) are aiming to capture the hearts of those that deliver compute clouds and SaaS, not the every day IT programmer, I think. The reason? To secure the place of their hardware platforms (and *maybe* their OSes) in the cloud economy of the future.
