Honestly, the re-org doesn't change much. The Home and Networks Mobility business goes from having five sub-groups to three. Also, I believe the RFID and radio assets fall under the Government and Enterprise business. Currently Motorola is made up of Mobile Devices, Home and Networks Mobility and Government and Enterprise. Home and Networks Mobility is the group doing the re-org.

I can't get to the NYT article, but if it says the same thing as the Reuters article it links to, you've got the gist of the story wrong. Moto isn't splitting into three units instead of two; rather, one of the two units it's splitting into -- Home and Networks Mobility -- will have three "subtending" businesses: Broadband Home Solutions (think cable boxes and other CPE), Broadband Access Solutions (think cable and HFC gear), and Cellular Networks (cell site radio equipment and mobile core).\

So you'll have two companies: handsets, and Home and Networks Mobility; the Home and Networks Mobility company will have three business units.
