Demand Media, the Santa Monica-based social media firm, is not in sale talks with Yahoo (NSDQ: YHOO), contrary to rumors.

Yahoo execs Hilary Schneider and Scott Moore recently had dinner with Demand Media’s founder and CEO Richard Rosenblatt, and that somehow prompted the rumors. With Yahoo in its own turmoil, any multi-billion dollar deal is out of the question for now, but Kara does report that Yahoo is very interested in a major partnership deal with the company. Demand has been working with Lance Armstong on his high-profile new commercial site LiveStrong, and also recently bought social media tools site Pluck….with $400 million pumped into the company, it won’t be a cheap buy for anyone, much less Yahoo with its current state of affairs.

  1. Does Yahoo really want to buy a large collection of domain parking-type sites littered with Google Adsense ads ALL over the place? I mean, that's pretty ridiculous.
