Yahoo said today it has added five more partners to the list of carriers that uses its mobile search, bringing the total over the last 18 months to 60 mobile search deals. The carriers — all in the Asia-Pacific region — announced today are: Mahanagar Telephon Nigam Limited, Hong Kong CSL, Smart Communications in the Philippines, Digital Mobile Phlis, SUN Cellular in the Philippines and Vibo Telecom in Taiwan. These companies will use Yahoo’s OneSearch on their respective decks. In addition, Yahoo said it signed two mobile advertising partnerships with Idea Cellular in India and Maxis Communications in Malaysia. The two mobile operators will use ads sold and served by Yahoo! (NSDQ: YHOO). Part of the reason that Yahoo won these agreements, must be its ability to localize the content. Yahoo! said it is supporting multiple languages, including a voice-recognition version that recognizes English accents. The company also said it has specific mobile widgets for the Asia Pacific region, including Yahoo! Cricket, Yahoo! Answers and Yahoo! India Movies, as well as a MTV Asia mobile widget featuring news updates and music charts. Release.
