Funnily enough reports are coming in saying that nothing wrong with Amazon Web Services’ S3 service is working just fine for everyone. Hey maybe they should use it sometime… okay just a bad joke on my part. Looks like the https version of the site is working.
A word from Amazon’s spokesperson:
The Amazon retail site was down for approximately 2 hours earlier today (beginning around 10:25) – and we’re bringing the site back up.
Amazon’s systems are very complex and on rare occasions, despite our best efforts, they may experience problems. We work to minimize any disruption and to get the site back as quickly as possible.
Amazon’s web services were not affected nor were our international sites.
Ironically, I had just come to this site to find that link Stacy posted a couple weeks ago about a website that checks to see if a website is down or if it’s just you. Guess I don’t need it now.
Yeah, couple of days back their web service went down too.
Btw, Amazon UK is UP.
I am using S3 and my website is working fine.
Not sure exactly what is going on but https still seems to be functioning. Just change your url from http:// to https://. It is a bit sluggish but it works.
The https version works, although it is a bit laggy. https://www.amazon.com
Could be because the weather here in Seattle is more like October then June currently, maybe their datacenter flooded ;)

Sorry, I’m usually very tolerant of grammatical fumbles, but that one is beyond the pale.
They are still down.
Wish they atleast have a custom page showing that their web site is down or having issues.
HTTP 1.1 ” Wonder what the users might think about this.

I suspect that they were hacked by someone on eBay’s payroll. Please note that this has not been confirmed by my sources…yet.
I think amazon.com went down again. Anyone knows whats up?
