NBC Sports today announced its biggest mobile endeavor yet — NBC 2Go, a mobile TV station on Qualcomm’s (NSDQ: QCOM) MediaFLO service and MobiTV service. NBC provided a bit more context to what it plans to provide on the station, which is at least running live on the AT&T (NYSE: T) network. It said sports can provide a good driver of consumer adoption, and therefore NBC 2Go will feature such events as this Saturday’s 133rd Preakness Stakes; the 2008 NHL Stanley Cup Playoff Games and Stanley Cup Final; golf’s U.S. Open Championship, U.S. Women’s Open Championships, Senior PGA Championship and The Ryder Cup; the French Open and Wimbledon; and Notre Dame Football. The station also features non-sports events like 30 Rock and Friday Night Lights, and on NBC’s other mobile station called NBC News2Go, features highlights from such shows as Power Lunch, Closing Bell, Hardball, Mad Money and Countdown with Keith Olbermann. Today a lot of the mobile TV content is either canned or are reruns. NBC Sports said it will provide coverage of live sports events in the coming months, and feature highlights from games on demand.
