Honestly, I think Intel is losing a little bit a focus here. They are dominant in the hardware industry, and presumably they'd like to expand their business. But why move into Web-App Mashups - a space already inhabited by other bigger (and frankly better) players on the web?

I'm confused by this move out of them and frankly I think expanding their line of hardware (notebooks and PCs under their own brand name) might be a better next step than venturing senselessly into software.

Great tool, nice to see it finally opening up to the public. There's been some interesting activity in this space. We (Orchestr8) have had an in-browser mashup tool (AlchemyPoint) available for over a year now, offering widgets, content scraping, and all the other capabilities you'd expect in any versatile browser-based mashup platform. I'm interested in what Intel's plans for MashMaker are. Is this moving towards a commercial product of some kind, or will it remain a research tool?
