&lt;p&gt;People like to think of mobile phones as being smartphones and the like and certainly the margins are high on these kinds of phones but they remain a small fraction of Nokia's sales. People in the US don't realise how dominant Nokia is because the US is a very weak market for them - but it is practically their only weak market.  I have heard their processes compared favourably to those of Walmart. In short, they make quality phones much more cheaply than anyone else.&lt;/p&gt;
