It would support OFDM (like WiMax) PHY with special hooks to watch for beacons on licensed sectrum and mechanisms for avoiding other non-licensed use. If I recall correctly one of those is unlicensed wireless microphones. NAB has been active in the IEEE effort. They are 'ostensibly' opposed for fear of intrusion into broadcast. The technology can clearly overcome that.&lt;/p&gt;

		<description>&lt;p&gt;I think this move is great for consumers in that it will further competition, and provide lower cost mobile broadband access to the mass market. I agree that the regulatory challenges are just beginning, however this seems to be great timing in lieu of the successes of Verizon and AT&#38;T in the spectrum auction. In my opinion, "it seems like the right fit" for the consumer.&lt;/p&gt;
