Imho, the mobile market has already been revolutionized by touch screen interfaces. The Iphone. Last year, they sold what, 4 million units?

And we have only 300 million people in the United States. So, already, 1% of the American public owns an Iphone. I got one, my wife did, our business partner did, and many people I consult with bought an iphone.

The touch screen is there, mobiles sites aren't necessary, because of the zoom feature in Safari 3.0. I talked to my dad about mobile phones yesterday, and while he can build his own website, knows how to market it, and is 63 years of age...he doesn't know what WAP is nor does he care.

What makes sense to him: he has a website. He wants it to work everywhere. He already built it once. With the iphone, suddenly, it does. He doesn't need to rebuild it in Wap.

The touchscreen won't revolutionize the market in the US. Making the entire web, not just a subset of it, work on a mobile device is what's needed. Apple took a huge step towards that already.

If the other manufacturers & Microsoft, in particular, starts to finally get that developers want to write once, and run everywhere, with their plain vanilla HTML / Ajax website, then the sooner we'll see a real explosion in the mobile market.

The touch screen nobody cares about ;)

I am a Sprint PCS customer. Do you know if Sprint is in the process of sell to another carrier or if they are merging with another company? I am trying to get a handle on what they are doing. They do not seem to have the latest in phones like ATT&T or Verizon.

Thank you for your comments.
