I have also been suing Defensio since private beta, and it has been interesting watching them grow. They definitely have some great ideas, and OpenID support is just another one of them.

But since anybody can be an OpenID provider, OpenID is not a reliable authorizer, until and unless we use it for maintaining a whitelist. I hope people don’t overextend the capabilities of OpenID with false promises. That would turn off people and rob us of other benefits of OpenID.

I think the use of OpenID and their spam checking system will do a lot to keep blogs spam free. I rarely have a problem with blog spam.

I like Akismet as well, but from an interface and features standpoint, I think Defensio is leading Akismet.
