I teased everyone earlier with something I had ordered and since Fujitsu is now saying the estimated ship date is not until Feb. 29th I’ll come clean so as not to make everyone wait that long to find out what it is. I ordered a Fujitsu P1620 or Myagi Jr. as one commenter called it. The P1610 was just about the perfect mobile PC for me with the exception of some anemic components and the refreshed P1620 should correct that nicely. The unit I ordered is configured thusly:
1.2 GHz Core 2 Duo
2 GB memory
100 GB hard drive (4200 rpm)
Vista Business
This configuration should run Vista properly and if it doesn’t Fujitsu is doing something cool and including XP recovery disks for devices pre-installed with Vista. The P1620 wasn’t the cheapest computer by anyone’s standards but is one of the nicest form factors available and I can’t wait to get this baby. Complete specs after the jump.
So… James where will this fit in your mobile day? Does this replace the 2710p for you?

Meanwhile, I went ahead and got a Mini-Miyagi Jr as I got the U810… ;-)
So far, really enjoying it!
First thing I did was ‘upgrade it to XPT’ using the included recovery disk…
Second thing was to replace the 40GB HD with a 100GB/8MB buffer HD….
So, havin’ fun with this lil’ bad boy….

Question: Why did you opt for a tablet with a passive digitizer? I love the form factor of the P1620, too, but I just can’t get past the passive digitizer… Am I making too much of it?
what are the main differences between this and the U810??
You know we’ll want every detail once it arrives! You’ve got me extremely interested in getting one myself – even though I was previously committed to the P7230. You’ve opened my eyes to a different possibility…and more mobility.

Among the most significant, IMHO, is the fact you can actually type on the 1620′s keyboard. The U810 is better for shorter text messaging.
