In other Dell news, there go at least another 900 jobs in Edmonton and probably some in Ottawa http://www.cbc.ca/canada/edmonton/story/2008/01/31/delledmonton.html

Say hello to even longer wait times just to argue with a narrowly-trained pseudo-tech who is probably working overnight on coffee, and that's not counting the extra time to decipher the 'English'.

Perhaps they really do to concentrate on their core business a bit more.

Apple will win further if Dell takes a try at this. They have done very poorly with most any product outside their core. Remember their iPod killer? The iPhone continues to enjoy the success it deserves while the other stand still and don't provide a contender. And no that doesn't make me happy, I'd like to see Apple get a run for its money as the consumer will benefit (lower prices, more features, etc.)

Why couldn't a Dell G-Phone be an enterprise oriented device? Surely a Linux smartphone would run circles around a WM6 device and some enterprise GMail variant would probably give Blackberry a good run for the money, especially on a value basis. The thing pundits seem to misunderstand about Android is that it is a smartphone platform and the main market for smartphones is still business.
