San Fransciso-based Desi Hits, a portal for South Asian entertainment, has raised a $5 million second round from Draper Fisher Jurvetson (DFJ), Trident Capital and the D.E. Shaw Group. The company previously raised $1 million in 2007, for a total raise of at least $6 million. The site, which offers a range of content including music videos, interviews, blogs and podcasts, claims to garner 10 million hits per month. It also touts itself as a channel for western acts to promote themselves to the Indian market. Release.
