College sports network CSTV.com is partnering with USA Today’s website on a marketing program that’s centered around online video. The arrangement calls for CSTV.com to provide video coverage from its CSTV XXL service, which features about 100 Internet TV channels dedicated to live college sports. Another of CSTV.com’s offerings, GameTracker, is also part of the deal. The GameTracker channel has real-time stats of during particular match-ups. USAToday.com’s sports section will be able to access a number of different GameTracker pages, including the Sports front, college fronts and scores page. And by the spring, CSTV.com will introduce a daily short-form video channel specifically for USAT.com. Release

Revenue sharing: Both say this is their first major video syndication deal with an outside partner, though CSTV has done some smaller partnerships with sports portals. A source with knowledge of the deal told me that CSTV is sharing revenues generated by new subscriptions and renewals with USAT. Also, the two will share revenue from ads served within the XXL player and GameTracker channel that have been customized for USAT.com. CSTV will sell the ads. Finally, the Gannett-owned paper is splitting ad revenue on CSTV clips featured on USAToday.com, with USAT selling those ads.
