Quote of the Day: ‘Nothing succeeds like success’

I just heard Barack Obama interviewed by Gwen Ifill of The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer. You can guess what they talked about. Gwen asked him to to explain the fervor and depth of his new momentum in New Hampshire. (He is now leading by double digits there, and caucus pollsters expect record turnout tomorrow, as in Iowa on Thursday.)

Obama responded with ease:

“Well, Gwen, nothing succeeds like success.”

Obama’s progress is further evidence of the value of getting into the Success Habit and of why pressing on — if incrementally and slowly, with small accomplishments at first — will build on itself. Not all your successes need be big. Small achievements, done in succession, will grow into big successes.

Nothing demonstrates this better than the ascendant political campaign of the one-time underdog. (I’ll try to lay off the political references tomorrow.)
