[...] Om Malik, Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at 9:21 AM PT Comments (0) Right before the Christmas holidays I got a chance to catch up with Dr. Mendel Rosenblum, VMWare’s chief scientist and one of the company’s four co-founders. Rosenblum is also an associate professor of computer science at Stanford University, where he leads a group focused on operating systems research. It was at Stanford where Rosenblum and three of his graduate students — Scott Devine, Edouard Bugnion and Dr. Edward Wang — came up with the idea that led to VMWare (VMW).

That software is AWFUL! I spent weeks with tech support trying to figure out why the vm would always hose my machine and eat up cpu. They gave me 3.0 for free which was still garbage.

I switched to vmware fusion and THAT is a great product!

Virtualization is a major vision for many organizations. The benefits of maximizing HW and minimizing power needs are hard to ignore by Data Center managers. So far virtualization platforms have not been excessively priced, and a new competitor will hopefully make all the products feature rich.
