I guess it makes sense that they are selling themselves on eBay, and yes, you should have taken the 100K.
You say that "YouAreTV's vision has always been about the smaller independent content..." but what did they offer that nobody else had?

"YouAreTV’s vision has always been about the smaller independent content >>creators, where Youtube grew based on copyrighted content"

Huh? YouTube grew based on smaller independent content creators (namely 12 year olds making horrible content). Looks and sounds to me like YouAreTv was trying to do the same exact thing with a much worse domain name. As Shane said, if someone really did slip up and offer 100k for the domain name you should have taken it and ran.

Looks like the online video world is entering a period of contraction, some due to M&A, some due to shutdowns.

HungryFlix.com wishes YouAre.TV and YouAreMedia the best of luck.

Well, at least they are going out in style. If they have a good publicist, selling on ebay should create more buzz than their company ever did!

"Have already been offered 100k for the domain name itself by a MAJOR media company."

Probably should have taken it.

Despite being very small, YouAreTV's vision has always been about the smaller independent content creators, where Youtube grew based on copyrighted content, and Brightcove grew on deals with existing media companies. We still very much believe in this vision, but think that it takes the resources and voice of a much larger company to execute.

My personal thoughts here: http://imbuildingsomethinghere.com/?p=115
