I've recently "found myself" through Rapleaf - really really odd to see myself there - but I enjoy it.

There's also ex.plode.us and the friend-search Upscoop (run by Rapleaf) and Naymz and a new one, Streakr and of course Spock -- gosh, that's all I can think of. Hope it helps!

Although it wasn't on the list, I like pipl.com the best. Very simple, very fast, mostly accurate. They all have the "John Smith" problem, but for specific names like Om, this is what you get:

http://pipl.com/search/?FirstName=om&LastName=malik&City=&State=CA&Country=US&CategoryID=2&Interface=1

This is actually good news as there is a lot to be said for having some privacy. Why should every stalker and nut-job be allowed to have access to our whereabouts and doings?

Wink is the best out of all of these--it's a hard space to be in at this point with people wanting anonymity on the web. Maybe Google could figure it out and rule the universe, who knows. I think we talked about Wink on a recent Tuesday Night Tech show, but I had a little too much to drink that night, so, I can't be sure.
