WebWorkerDaily is putting People Search Engines – Spock, SquidWho, WhoZat and Wink through the grinder. They are using me as one of the lab rats. What’s the final verdict? “Maybe searching for people is a great unsolved problem, but if it is, I don’t see a lot of solutions in this bunch.” But we still have a winner: Wink. To find out why, continue reading at WWD.

Wink is the best out of all of these–it’s a hard space to be in at this point with people wanting anonymity on the web. Maybe Google could figure it out and rule the universe, who knows. I think we talked about Wink on a recent Tuesday Night Tech show, but I had a little too much to drink that night, so, I can’t be sure.
This is actually good news as there is a lot to be said for having some privacy. Why should every stalker and nut-job be allowed to have access to our whereabouts and doings?
Om, as always.. you are the man! your little post guided me to Wink then to a long time friend i just found! Thanks!
Although it wasn’t on the list, I like pipl.com the best. Very simple, very fast, mostly accurate. They all have the “John Smith” problem, but for specific names like Om, this is what you get:
http://pipl.com/search/?FirstName=om&LastName=malik&City=&State=CA&Country=US&CategoryID=2&Interface=1
WhitePages.com just works.
We did talk about Wink on a recent Tuesday Night Tech show, but I had a little too much to drink that night, so, I can’t be sure. But I think its cool ether way
http://www.addresses.com seems to have the best data.
I’ve recently “found myself” through Rapleaf – really really odd to see myself there – but I enjoy it.
There’s also ex.plode.us and the friend-search Upscoop (run by Rapleaf) and Naymz and a new one, Streakr and of course Spock — gosh, that’s all I can think of. Hope it helps!
People search engines world is a jungle… and sometimes a desert ! ( : no results for your search )
Our private garden is becoming “amazingly short”, and very often we ourselves provided 90% of avalaible datas…
And we love it !
Cheers
