The Indian government intends to webcast the President’s address on the eve of Independence Day (August 15th) as well as the Prime Minister’s Independence Day address on the Press Information Bureau website. The addresses will be simulcast on TV (Doordarshan) and at the website, starting at 7pm on August 14, and 7am on August 15. The release also claims that the PIB website receives nearly 2 lakh hits per day. The PIB also has a video archive of speeches, here.

Speaking of video archives, if you’re in the UK – the BBC is allowing limited access to it’s archives of historical content related to India and Pakistan. I couldn’t access it since I’m in India…and am not very pleased about that. A friend in the UK has signed up for it, though.
