Fichey launches, Why?

Just because it is cheap to start a company, put together a Web-based product and get some attention, it doesn’t necessarily mean it is a good idea. Fichey, the new shiny thing today, is a perfect example.

It is a flash-based offering that offers up screen shots of what websites were hot on social sharing sites like Digg, del.icio.us and Reddit. You sift through the sites like a microfiche file, using forward and back buttons. A click would take you to the relevant website. I checked it out, left and still can’t figure out what problem is this service solving.

I think it has potential… just needs more work done to it. It doesnt really do much at the moment and Id rather just go to the sites individually.

I agree with the commenters above. It seems to have potential to me. Needs some more features, but its not a horrific concept.

I commented on your post about Broadband TV yesterday because I didn’t agree with it entirely. I’m commenting on this post because I don’t agree with it at all!
Fiche does solve the problem of bookmarking overload by showing the highest ranked pages in the popular bookmarking sites. And it does so in style! My post on why one should love Fichey here.

Om,

It is definitely a placebo and not a painkiller. Strangely, it is similiar to StumbleUpon which I recall had a $75 million dollar exit. So maybe Fichey will draw interest.

I think it’s kind of cool.
