Yesterday’s video showing how to use Internet Sharing on Windows Mobile for a PC seems to be working well for folks based on the e-mail I’m getting. Jose asks me if this will work for a Mac. C’mon: use a Windows Mobile smartphone as a modem for your Mac?!? Sure you can! I’ll walk you through it under seven minutes by showing the pairing process as well.

Sorry the video quality isn’t too hot; I recorded this using my digital video camera, which is a decent camera, but I recorded it to an SD card and that maxes out at QVGA res. I’m still futzing with the logistics of these quick-hit videos, so please bear with me while I do. :)

  1. Kevin, to enter in a string of numbers on the Dash just hit Alt twice which locks it. Hit again when you’re done to toggle it off.

  2. I have a work mate in the US at the moment with a Mac Book Pro. He is trying to get some form of wireless access set up (need it for 5 weeks). All the carriers seem only to offer two year plans.

Can anybody provide some feedback on a setup he could get working for a short period of time. Needs high speed access to log back into work.

    Thanks,

    AJB

  4. Help with a Sprint HTC Mogul and a Mac Book Pro.

I watched the video, but when I tried following the instructions the plan fell-through when the blue-tooth set-up assistant doesn’t find the phone…any advice on how I can get tethering to work (either with or without wires).

    Thanks,

Is there any way to download this video onto my hard drive without accessing it on the net? I just know that when the time comes I will have to access this video from my hard drive to get it to work.

    GREAT video!

    Thanks

  6. Bernie, if you hit up this site, you can download any YouTube video and save it locally: http://keepvid.com/ You’ll also need a flash player in order to play it back but KeepVid has a link that offers a free one. You should also be able to use VLC to watch it; a quick Google of VLC will get you going. Thanks for the kind words and I’m thrilled that video instructions are useful.

  7. Thanks a bunch! The process wasn’t exactly the same, possibly b/c I’m using an HTC Tilt (but still WM6), but it was pretty close and works great. Thanks again!

  10. I have a pantech duo and I know it comes with a watered down version of windows mobile, including what looks to be like no internet sharing app. Is there a way to do all of this with the smaller WM6?
