This is not a small issue. We have entered the surveillance society and the Internet is just a beginning. . Smart motes, bio-tech devides and others are bringing a sea-change to privacy within 10 years. If the U.S. does not develop a coherent, comprehensive policy with compliance required of all (government included), we are likely to have no privacy, no personal life, and no private identity. And, if industry does not adopt self-regulatory policies & proceduers that guarantee secure data and resources, they will be just as vulnerable as individuals. Things will only get more complicated as we continue on the path of piece-meal, reactive approaches to 'managing' private information.

Conventional telecom is going to be as dead as the horse carriages of the past. Anybody who does not recognize this - and does not act on taking his company and himself to the new world - is a fool!
