I've had a iphone for a couple of years now. When I first got it I used it on a local service here in my area. I could be anywhere in my house and had great reception. Then I wanted all the cool apps and wanted it to work to its fullest so I went to AT&T. It was down hill since then. If I want people to hear me when talking on the iphone, I have to stand in my driveway. I rarely have full bars on the phone and I don't live in a little town. That's bull. I have no land line, haven't for years, so I'm stuck at the moment. Considering Verzion, probably would work better. AT&T advertises they have great coverage, WRONG. Here's the irony, they purchased the very company I was using (with the great reception) last Nov for 940 million and still no better recept. What's up with that!

Of course it's good in the store... PM is also pretty new so it took some time to get things rolling. How else do you think no other service but AT&T works inside a giant stainless steal box? :)

Live in Plano Tx WHO is part of the Dallas hub.

For months bad reception, dropped calls. Regardless of location. Spent hours on the phone- swapped phones three times- multitude of "technicians have guided me over the phone 'tweaking the settings, telling me they were installing add ons in my specific area to improve service- sent me three times to their "corporate store (the agents there could care less)'replaced the sims cards..now the last call spoke to another technician who tells me that my experience is normal!

They said I could break my contract without penalty..this tells me that the problem is just as stated in these post...the problem is wide spread..

The thing that burns my #$% is all the time and money I have spent acting out like a slave to this problem...They know yet they string me out for three months and tie up their time and money on a problem which is not admitted..

My choice is to cancel and see if anyone else can deliver an acceptable service..If anyone has suggestions for Dallas would appreciate it.

ALL AT&T WIRELESS USERS IN DALLAS, TEXAS, ARE STILL EXPERIENCING A LEVEL 3 NETWORK OUTAGE THAT WAS FIRST REPORTED AT 5AM ON JUNE 30. THIS IS AFFECTING MY NOKIA 6230 HANDSET. WILL OTHER USERS PLEASE COMPLAIN TO AT&T SO THEY WILL FIX THE PROBLEM. I HAVE TALKED TO CUSTOMER SERVICE AT AT&T (FROM A LAND LINE) AND THEY CONFIRM THE LEBVEL 3 NETWORK OUTAGE (VOICE SERVICE CONNECTIVITY). MY WIRELESS HANDSET WILL NOT CLEARLY CONNECT TO CUSTOMER SERVICE USING 611. WHEN I DO CONNECT, ALL I HEAR IS AN ECHO OF WHAT I SAY AND THE RECIPIENT HEARS BUZZING, POPPING, AND SOME GARBLED SPEACH. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. OVER 1 DAY WITH NO CELLULAR SERVICE AND COUNTING.

@#1: Plus, Apple is known for showing feature-complete products in their retail stores (before now, it's been all Apple products -- the only thing they'd need is Wi-Fi, and all the stores I've been to use an Airport Extreme).

I too am not surprised :-p

I dumped AT&T (for MetroPCS) here in Tampa since they had many areas with poor or no coverage, maps showing coverage notwithstanding. There's no way I buy an Apple phone until AT&T fixes the problem.

It's highly likely that Apple and AT&T are working to deploy what are called "microcells" inside the Apple stores. These are very low-power, but they are often used to extend coverage to ill-served areas. It's not uncommon for a mobile phone store to have one to make sure that your coverage is perfect when you're looking at the phone.

When was the last time you were in a T-Mobile store that didn't have full coverage? Verizon? Nextel? Sprint?
