Pijo is doing this already, giving ad revenue to the developers who upload their games. Big plus on Pijo though is the fact that the game you are uploading does not have to be a flash game. Being earlier isn't a guarantee for success though :)

I saw Jim's preso at the recent Launch event. It is clear the Kongregate understands the gamer and gaming market well. Additionally, the user-generated angle to Kongregate gives them a long-tail appeal.

Although the concern about the challenges to create a good viral-game are valid, the technology gods are going in Kongregate's favor. It will continue to get easier to develop applications, videos, games, etc. as new tools become available.

I am assuming that there are already of a number of game tool vendors that provide those with more creativity and vision than technical expertise to become game developers.

Thanks, Blake!

Some updated numbers, since this interview is a couple of months old:

810 games

around 400 developers

average session length: 40 minutes

With Pictogame, creating your flash game is actually as simple as uploading a photo.
And you can put it on your blog, too.
