The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced the nominees for the Daytime Emmys, and included categories for web shows for the first time. The winners are getting “technical achievement Oscars” treatment, as they’ll be announced on June 14, a day before the live telecast ceremony.
Sadly, drama nominee Sam Has 7 Friends from Big Fantastic (previous coverage) is no longer available at the original site or on Vuguru, and has been removed from YouTube and Revver as well. It’s Jerry Time!, a nominee in the variety category, is a hilarious animated series (and its creator is not that Jerry Zucker). In episode seven, Jerry faces off against “The Brute” in pickup street hockey.
While not exactly putting up millions of views, if the Revver stats are any indication, Satacracy 88 from It’s All in Your Hands is a fun online mystery show, and accordingly got a nod in the drama category. Here’s the first episode to get you started.
A video about the distorted reality of advertising from TuffSheet’s Campaign Against Real Life, Dove Evolution campaign parody Slob Evolution (previous coverage), earned a nomination in the comedy category. Oh, the irony of the television industry honoring a mockery of advertising ethics and consumerism.
