Its sad to see SavaJe go away. But the physics of the industry are very cruel. The OS is typically monetized on a per unit roylaty - between 2-5$. Two-three years of investment before you ship your V1, five or more years to significant revenues. Who wants to fund this business? Hard to build a business on such royalties - especially when the power is mostly with the Operators who have not been willing to pay for it.

Its especially sad because the handset software and user experience is the key to the uptake of mobile services: from voice to SMS to email to IM to location. No wonder cell phones are still mostly used - by the mass market - for no more then voice and sms.
